DALE & ANN LITTLE

From ServeBeyond to Christar

After prayer, lots of discussion with each other, and interaction with colleagues, on April 29 we made the difficult and disappointing decision to move to Christar Canada (https://christar.ca). Christar has set up a Safe Landing Zone for ServeBeyond “refugees." Earlier we had two tentative onboarding interviews or chats with Christar, so transferring to them seems to be going smoothly. Christar is a warm and welcoming space for us to land. “Read more…” for the background.

Though the EFC of Canada Board decided in mid-January to lay off ServeBeyond missionaries on April 30 (“your employment with EFCC will end on April 30”), we are exceptions because we no longer pay Canadian taxes. So we could stay with ServeBeyond. More accurately, we could join the new ServeBeyond mission agency that has only a small percentage of missionaries remaining, has no clearly defined vision and strategy, and whose current leader is the EFCC Executive Director in the last few weeks of his term. This gave us no confidence that the EFCC could provide the missionary care and reliable mission agency structure needed for continuing our now part-time church planting ministry at TMC. Our email correspondence with EFCC in the past few weeks has confirmed these apprehensions.
